This photo was taken at Amboli, Maharashtra, India. Amboli is situated in the Western Ghats and is a hot bio diversity spot. It is known to come alive during the monsoons.Time
It was around dusk, inside a canopy of tall deciduous trees and difficult lighting conditions. We were hiking along a trail in the forest when this beauty was spotted on the lower branches of a tree.Lighting
The lighting condition was difficult. It was dusk and it was also overcast with a slight drizzle. We were also under a moderate canopy cover. The in camera flash came in very handy.Equipment
I was using a Nikon D 5300 DSLR with Tamron 90mm VC macro lens. I wasn’t carrying a tripod, so the shots were handheld. The camera’s built in flash came in handy.Inspiration
I love shooting reptiles. The eyes of the snakes are especially fascinating as a lot of myths and legends are associated with the hypnotic powers of the STARE.Editing
The photo was cropped and straightened using Photoshop. Minor adjustments of contrast and sharpness was also done.In my camera bag
I am primarily into wildlife and macros. My primary camera is a Nikon D 850 and I also carry a Nikon D5300. Nikon 200-500 f 5.6 and Tamron 90mm VC macro are always in my bag. I carry a Godox flash and a Godox T1 trans receiver. I also have a ring flash for macros. A manfrotto 190 go tripod.Feedback
Shooting reptiles is tricky. You need to know about the behaviour of the subject....about its speed, nature and its habitat. If you are new to shooting reptiles it is advisable to be accompanied by an expert herpetologist or naturalist.
