The RSA Building

behind the lens badge

This building is Downtown and I love the many “faces” that I can capture, with just taking a different route. Enjoy!

Behind The Lens

Location

In Downtown Mobile Alabama

Time

This was taken in the mid-afternoon. The color version of this photograph has a beautiful blue sky, with no clouds.

Lighting

Well. I cannot drive, so if I see something that inspires me, I do my best to get that shot. This was taken in the middle of the road, with the brightest natural light. I am actually shooting this upward out of a sunroof. So, natural lighting.

Equipment

I used a plain Jane cell phone. It’s what I have at the moment. Motorola 4. No flash. I have seen some amazing photos captured with cell phones but am working toward a digital camera.

Inspiration

The awe of this building alone is enough. However, The Tower is the largest building in Alabama and generally regarded as one of the best office buildings in Mobile. It has a Geometrical beauty to it that cannot be rivaled. It amazes me how many different angles I can get from shooting the RSA building. The location we were in and just the way the building looked from the car. That made me want to get the shot that I had not yet been able to get.

Editing

I cropped it some and put a black and white filter on it. To me, simplicity can be so beautiful.

In my camera bag

I don’t have one yet. I keep hoping to win one of these contests to get all that I need.

Feedback

Just be yourself. Whatever you have, as far as a camera, use it. Experiment with who you are in the photography. I always want my work to be enjoyed by other’s. I enjoy feedback. If you see a shot and sense it in your heart, go for that. Take that shot you feel and then see how well it does. I had no idea this would be liked so much but thinking out of the box is a saving grace! Just go for it.
