Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken down near the spillway in Dayton Ohio. The name is Deeds Park.

Time

It was early mourning, around 9:00am, on a cold day!

Lighting

I always try to make sure the sun is towards my back, or at a 45% towards my subject! trying to light up the eyes!

Equipment

I have a Canon 50D, and used a Tamron 200-500mm lens! I mount this on a Manfrotto monopod!

Inspiration

I was actually headed down to the spillway to capture the water and snow falling over the Spillway, but spotted two Yellow Tail Flickers playing in a nearby tree! Couldn't resist the opportunity!

Editing

I converted the photo from Raw photo to JPG, and enhanced a little in Canon Photo professional

In my camera bag

I have my Canon 50D, standard lens, 100mm canon macro lens, and a long range lens 200-500mm Tamron. carry wipes for the lens, including a soft brush to gently wipe off dust. A flash unit. Usually a snack and drink!

Feedback

Be Patient, and be ready because you never know when an opportunity for a cool shot pops up! Birds often follow the same patterns, so scope out some good areas. The less populated the better!
