Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my brother's house, with the library designed by my father in the background

Time

Early evening

Lighting

The light is artificial, but it was not arranged anyhow before taking the photo.

Equipment

Canon 6D, 85mm f1.8

Inspiration

Charlotte was very funny in the basket, and she was oddly quiet as well, just looking straight and intently at me. The colourful background compelled me to take a portrait of her.

Editing

Very simple camera raw adjustments

In my camera bag

It really depends on the kind of day I have ahead, and how I particularly feel that day, so it's hard to say. Of course I have favourite lenses for some specific photographic activities, but changing the habitual gear also forces me to think, so I try not to cling to some settled combinations.

Feedback

In this case this is just a nice cat portrait, with the addition of an interesting background and a decent, yet fortuitous lighting. Keep training your eye to spot good photo occasions even in very familiar settings, and always carry your equipment with you and have it ready at hand. This will multiply the chances to grab a good shot.
