Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken whilst I was on my month long holiday in Australia at the end of 2017! The majority of the trip was spent travelling along The Great Ocean Road, and I was lucky enough to visit The 12 Apostles twice during my trip. This was from my second visit, and whilst everyone was focusing on the main event - The 12 Apostles, I couldn't help but notice this gorgeous sunset!

Time

This photo was taken on Thursday the ?23rd of ?November ?2017 at 21:26. It was fairly cloudy that evening, luckily they cleared up just enough to capture this amazing view!

Lighting

This photo is one of favourites. What you see in this photograph is exactly what I saw that evening. No editing needed, which is what I love most about this photo - it's as if i captured the photo with my eyes.

Equipment

This photo was shot using my Canon EOS 80D with my standard 18-55mm lens.

Inspiration

I wanted to take a lot of memorable photos on this trip, not just for my own benefit in the years to come, but to also show to all of my family and friends when I got back to the UK. As soon as I arrived at The 12 Apostles and saw this sunset unravelling as the sun went down, I just had to capture it!

Editing

I didn't edit this photo in any way. I liked it, so I didn't feel the need to edit it.

In my camera bag

My camera bag consists of my camera - the Canon EOS 80D, an 18-55mm lens, a 55-250mm lens and (my favourite) an EF 50mm f/1.8 lens.

Feedback

If it's a cloudy evening (like it was in this photograph) then you don't want to set your ISO so low, as the photo will just end up looking under exposed. If possible try to use a tripod; I didn't for this photo, but using one would have helped me a lot! Set your aperture fairly low, and then adjust your shutter speed until you get the perfect shot.
