Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Bunche Beach on the gulf side of Florida. I was just strolling the beach looking for shells to shoot and these guys were just hanging out like this. I didn’t place the lizard on the horseshoe crab.

Time

This was just after lunch time. I had a nice burger and beer in the hot sun.

Lighting

Lighting was all natural. The sun was coming in perfect from the south and they just happened to be in the right position. Little to no editing went into this photo.

Equipment

This was shot with a Nikon D7100. Sigma 70-300 macro lens. No tripod or flash.

Inspiration

I was instantly reminded of The Lion King. 2 completely different species coexisting together. I was blown away to see this.

Editing

Very little to none. A little white balance and some contrast and that’s all I put into this photo.

In my camera bag

I only have one camera body. Nikon D7100. Sigma 70-300, Tamron 100mm macro, Nikkor 35mm. Pluto trigger and a vanguard tripod.

Feedback

Explore explore explore. Don’t be afraid to get out even if you don’t expect to see anything. 80% of my favorite shots were not planned. Keep an open mind and don’t be afraid to mess with your camera settings. I also find it helpful to carry a notebook to record setting for quick reference.
