Behind The Lens

Location

I took this picture at Alcatraz Prison, or also known as "The Rock", in California.

Time

It was during the afternoon on a chilly but sunny day.

Lighting

I put my camera really close to the flower to capture all the physical features of the flower (also zoomed in a tiny bit). The photo was taken on the side of the prison, so the flower was in the shade. Just happened to be a great lighting.

Equipment

I just pulled out my Sony Camera (DSC-H400) and took a picture of it. Nothing special.

Inspiration

I love taking nature pictures. But something was different about this flower. The fact that a nice flower grew on the side of the prison was interesting to see. I guess you could say, symbolically, that sometimes a little light can come pop up in a dark place.

Editing

I had to edit the lighting just a tad and I also had to change the contrast to make sure the photo lined up correctly.

In my camera bag

I just bought a new monopod, which I'm really excited to use now. But I usually just keep my Sony Camera and an extra battery and an extra memory card in my bag. Nothing too fancy.

Feedback

Have patience and don't be afraid to take a photo of something that is ordinary. I take pictures of random things all the time, to where I can transform them into something spectacular.
