A remote hamlet in the Lake District (UK), once a centre for graphite mining. Nowadays a popular starting place for fell-walkers. This is the High Street!
It is also reckoned to be the wettest place in England, with 140 inches of rain per year. My image is a fanciful composite and replicates an early 1900's scene I saw in a magic lantern slide.
