I took this photograph at my former work place, the Army Aviation Sac Facility located on the former Mather Air Force Base in California.Time
To get the lighting and mood I wanted, I started my setup for this photograph around 4 am. The photograph was finally taken around 6ish.Lighting
The lighting is a combination of natural light in the background,sunrise, and one 600 watt strobe light to light the front of the aircraft and my friend and former co-worker SSG Angie Brennan.Equipment
I use a newer 600 watt strobe with soft box, a Canon EOS 7D with a 24-70mm lens set at 28mm at F4 1/250 sec.Inspiration
Since I am a retired US Army avionics mechanic, I thought it would be cool to use my connection to get a really awesome sunrise photograph of my friend and one of the aircraft I worked on and that she crewed.Editing

It depends on what I am going out to photograph. In this case, I took two strobe heads and stands , and my light meter and extra batteries.Feedback
Always make sure you put your gear together the day or night before just so you don't have to rush and know you have everything. Do some research on youtube or kelbyone for example. Don't beat yourself up, if it doesn't work out, use it as a training experience and try again another day. Also, make sure that your location and model are confirmed for the date and time.
