I shot the image early one morning whilst walking to work. Tooting Common is one of the many green spaces in London. Areas that are invaluable in what is, essentially, a built up, urban landscape.

Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken on Tooting Common, South London. An open, green space popular with dog walkers, joggers and naturalists.

Time

7.56am in early November

Lighting

The natural light was incredible. There was a thick fog on this particular morning and as the sun rose the common was bathed in a golden mist.

Equipment

I shot this image on an iphone 5SE.

Inspiration

I was inspired by the light initially. The interaction between dog and owner just presented itself and I reacted to the scene.

Editing

I adjusted the white balance ever so slightly in Snapseed. The light was so good that the image didn’t need much post production.

In my camera bag

Canon 5D and 1DS mark II. Old cameras now but still good enough. Lenses include 35mm, 28-105mm zoom and a 180mm telephoto macro.

Feedback

Always carry a camera whether that be a DSLR or a phone. Get up early!
