Behind The Lens
Location
A few years ago I was lucky enough to live in a place in the Vercors in France, which is still very well preserved for its wildlife. This photo was taken on the heights of the mountain of the 2 sisters in the direction of the Grande Moucherolle.Time
I had gone hiking in the morning and it was about just after lunchtime, around 1pm, time for a break for our bovid friends.Lighting
The peculiar position of the ibexes and the hard light of the early afternoon strengthened the spirit of the old wise men that the scene inspired me.Equipment
I shot the scene at 400mm focal length with the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS I USM. A lens I particularly like for close-up photography.Inspiration
The scene reminded me of a meeting, a reunion, between old wise men from the mountains. A scene that could have come straight out of a Miyazaki film.Editing
The post-processing simply consisted of strengthening the blacks and accentuating the contrast to reinforce the somewhat mysterious side of the scene. In my camera bag
When I go on a photo trip, I always take a Canon 24-105 USM IS L, and a 100-400mm. These two focal lengths allow me to cover most of the situations I may encounter.Feedback
Follow your desires of the moment and let your imagination run free, let yourself be surprised and thus any scene that may seem innocuous may turn out to be mysterious and inspiring.
