While teaching new (and some intermediate), photography students, we came upon this flower, which was hanging low from a branch. I asked my enthusiasts to think of ways to photograph the flower in a manner that was NOT common. Each took their turn. None of them thought to "LAY ON THE GROUND." Which is exactly what I did. I laid on my back, squiggled my to position the sunlight in the manner you see in the image, and waited for the wind to gently move it, hoping to blur the edges with motion, yet keeping the sun, branch and pistils in focus. I used fill flash to remove minor shadowing and VOILA! A flower from a different perspective, angle and view. Let your mind guide you.
