Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Wallowa Lake bear Joseph, Oregon. We ended up having a bit of a snowstorm that day! The property was set up above the lake making travel to and from the cabin very dangerous. This sweet bride and groom were an absolute joy to photograph and their infectious love made the wedding so fun!

Time

This was late afternoon right before dark.

Lighting

The sky was very gloomy and the snow was coming down all day. The brides dress acted as a natural reflector to help keep light on their faces.

Equipment

I shot this with my Canon 6d and Canon 24-105 lens.

Inspiration

I wanted to create natural intimacy. Something that wasn’t forced and easy. The couple gravitates towards each other so it was lovely to see interaction.

Editing

I did minimal editing on this photo. Since it was taken in raw I did some color correction in LR and then did some hand editing in PS to finish the photo.

In my camera bag

I always have my camera, my lenses, flashes, batteries, extra memort cards, and a flash diffuser!

Feedback

Know your surroundings! We didn’t have much outdoor space to work with at this venue so I found the best light and openness I could find.
