Location
This photo was taken on Owen Beach near Point Defiance in Tacoma WA.Time
It was mid day in the late fall. The sky was hazy and overcast and the air was cold.Lighting
I did turn my ISO up a bit to 800 since it was such a dark day, but I also had my shutter speed dialed to 1/1000 as well.Equipment
I used my Canon 6d camera and my Canon lens.Inspiration
The driftwood on this rocky beach if amazing. There is so much of it. Puget sound is a hub for freighters and lots of wood mills. So it's inevitable that wood is on beaches.Editing
I did reduce my noise slightly and added a bit of vignette. I also popped the colors and sharpened some specific logs.In my camera bag
I always have my camera, my various lenses (canon 24-70, 70-200, etc) as well as my external flash and diffuser, batteries, memory cards, and gum!Feedback
Don't be afraid to get down into the dirt and get dirty to take photos. I was kneeling on the ground for this shot. So many people stick to eye level photography, but finding a different plane to take photos on is so much fun!
