This picture was taken In Nawalgarh, in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, India on the grounds of the Roop Niwas Kothi, a heritage hotel with an old world charm in the outskirt of town. It is on a large estate with stables for more than 75 Marwari horses.

The Marwari or Malani horse is a rare breed of horses from the Marwar (or Jodhpur) region of India, known for its inward-turning ear tips (as you can see on the horse in the background on the left). The Marwari are descended from native Indian ponies crossed with Arabian horses, possibly with some Mongolian influence.

Just before sunset at feeding time, the horses that are in the paddock are brought back to the stables. As soon as the gate opens, they bolt back to the stables stirring up lots of dust along their path. It is a very exciting experience, charged with energy.
