Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in the heart of Manhattan near the Times Square.

Time

It was a foggy evening in New York - one of those that sometimes happens here, not too rarely but still. I just did my evening walk. The city was very beautiful and mysterious in this fog: the tops of many skyscrapers were hidden in a milky veil. And then I raised my head upward, as I usually do, you know, as a curious child in the exploration of the unknown world that surrounds him. And I saw this composition - it somehow immediately formed in my head, so I immediately made a couple of shots on my phone. And here it is, one of my favorite pictures.

Lighting

I wanted to convey this mystical atmosphere drowning in the fog of New York - at such moments you do not fully realize that this is a reality, so incredible is the atmosphere on such days.

Equipment

This was shot on iPhone SE in the most ordinary mode and without a flash.

Inspiration

I wanted to capture New York in such a magical and mysterious way that it happens on foggy days - not flashy and assertive, but as if asleep under a layer of thinly woven by nature blanket. At such times, I love New York the most. It changes beyond recognition and gives unforgettable moments of incredible beauty. I feel the irresistible force of nature, which even a metropolis such as New York is not subject to.

Editing

Of course, most of the pictures taken on the phone need some processing. So in this picture I changed only the exposure.

In my camera bag

The first thing I always pack is my camera Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX100. But that time I had only my iPhone SE.

Feedback

I do not think I can give any concrete advice that can guarantee a good shot. The only thing that I always think is most important in photography is observation. And it does not matter if you have a camera or phone with you, or even nothing at all - photos can be done first of all with your eyes. Well, if you have tools to save, do not waste time.
