Autumn scene Island Beach State Park N.J. This is one of the many parks near my home. It's history dates back to 1635 when an English earl was granted the land. In 1926 a partner of Andrew Carnegie, purchased the property. The state of New Jersey bought the 2694 acre plot in 1953 and in 1959 it officially became a state park. The first know residence of this barrier island was the Lenape Tribe.
