Location
This photo is from my early days as a self taught photographer. I was at Beach Lake Park near Chugiak, Alaska on a cold and cloudy november day. I had happened to look across the lake to see this majestic reflection with Bear Mtn in the back and I couldn't resist the shot.Time
I was finishing up one of the last days of my Alaskan trip with a friend of mine. It was about 5pm and she happened to take me to this park where we walked around the lake's shore a good bit. We were talking about photography and that's when this view just sort of presented itself, almost like it was calling to me to take its picture.Lighting
The whole time it was overcast, except a little break in the far distance behind the mountain. But that didnt affect the picture much.Equipment
The only equipment I really ever use, a Canon 80D body with a Canon 17-40mm wide angle lens.Inspiration
I have a deep love for mountains and fall, and an even deeper love if there is snow on said mountain. This shot spoke to me in a very spiritual way, because this is the earthy embodiment of my actual happy place.Editing
As with most of my landscape photography there is only a few touch ups I preform on my pictures. My goal is to use as absolutely a minimal amount of processing and touch up to keep the integrity of the photo and the moment intact. This one happens to be a small amount of boosting colors, which helped to really make it pop.In my camera bag
In my bag I mostly only have my Canon 80D, and my 17-40mm wide angle and 75-300mm Telephoto lenses. Everything else is being in the right place at the right time.Feedback
My advice? Take tons of photos. Take multiples of the same photo, you can always go through them later, but you'll never be able to go back and get the exact same shot. Also, carry your camera with you EVERYWHERE. I mean it. You only get better by taking more photos, and you only can take photos if you have your camera with you.
