Location
Photo was taking in Bushy Park - London, EnglandTime
This was taken Just after sunrise on a misty cold late autumn morning.Lighting
I wanted to keep as much detail in the sunrise as possible so I under exposed the shot so as much of the golden sunrise would bathe the stag.Equipment
This was taken with a 5d mark iv with a canon 24-105 lens, handheld .Inspiration
A regular deer Photographer, I’ve also wanted to take a photograph where the rising sun is behind the stags antlers. Even though it was still the rutting season the stag took a break from eating the frosty grass briefly to get the shot I wanted .Editing
Using Lightroom I adjusted the exposure and shadows to show more detail. Finally applied some noise reduction to reduce noise in under exposed areas .In my camera bag
I’ve learnt the hard way: pack everything or miss that perfect shot ! Typically I take my 5d mark iv with canon 400mm; 16-35mm and 24-105mm lens’. As I do mostly landscape photography in low light conditions I also take a gitzo mountaineer tripod and head, along with a range of Nisi filters.Feedback
Being in a public park the deer can seem quite timid. However they are wild animals and can be unpredictable especially during the mating / rutting season. Also treat the animals with respect : you are a visitor into their world .
