It was 34 degrees and windy at the top of McAfee's knob, the destination for a spur of the moment overnight backpacking trip. The Leonid meteor shower was peaking between 2-4 am and I wanted to get a chance to shoot a timelapse of it. The weather had other ideas, because in addition to the cold and the wind, some unforecasted clouds rolled in around midnight, ruining any chance of a meteor show. Somewhat defeated I left to set up my sleeping arrangements at the camp a little further away. After a restless night (I still haven't figured out the best way to sleep in my hammock yet) I got up and headed back up to the top of the mountain to catch the sunrise. The result is what you see here.
