Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken the first time I travelled to London. I'm a self taught photographer, that comes from a small town in Bosnia, and this picture showed me it is possible to achieve unachievable.

Time

It was around 18-19pm on a cold rainy day and London was just starting to wake up, the soft lights produced this beautiful melancholic feeling in me, knowing it was my last night there, and my friends were rushing to catch the train and were super annoyed with me for stopping constantly to take pictures. I realized the angle and the perspective of the picture was unusual so I just tried to hold still and get the best possible version.

Lighting

I wanted this image to convey exactly what I was feeling in that moment, the melancholic cozy feeling that only London can produce while everyone was rushing to get to their families and friends. In that moment, it was the exchange of night and day which gave that beautiful blue light looking filter to the image.

Equipment

This photograph was shot on Canon 600D, 18-55mm, no other equipment was used.

Inspiration

I was looking for a unique place to capture the soul of London, and that which everyone knows, but from a different perspective. I wasn't interested in taking a picture of just the big ben or the telephone box, I wanted to combine the two into one somehow, and I think that this photo conveyed what i wanted perfectly!

Editing

In this case, I had to work on the sky a bit more to correct the white balance, as it killed the sky more than i liked. The other processing was minimal, such as fixing the shadows and contrast in the photo!

In my camera bag

Usually I would only have my 18-55 lens, but recently I bought an old school vintage helios that I carry with me almost everywhere.

Feedback

Never stop taking pictures of things you think are interested in, you never know what can come out once you sit down and look at the pictures trough your laptop! Always stick to your vision, there is a reason it exists.
