Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Parco Nilde Iotti in Reggio Emilia, Italy. I was trying new things with my camera and saw this perfect scene where there is a mist everywhere creating a fuzzy feeling in the image. I am actually practicing a long exposure shot and i'm pretty happy with the result.

Time

This is when i am still experimenting things with my camera to know it better so i can use it when i needed to use it. I just had my dinner around 7:30pm and went out for a walk and took my dslr and tripod. After a 10min - 15mins walk i have this amazing view and have a shot of it.

Lighting

I always wanted my picture to be mysterious, fuzzy, hazy and dramatic. Having the light from the lamp posts in the park added luminosity into the misty night of november. The warm halo light of the posts accentuated the benches and the drinking fountain nearby and took away the coldness of the almost winter night.

Equipment

This image was shot in Canon EOS 100D with 18-55mm lens, f 5.6 aperture, with a tripod.

Inspiration

I still consider myself as newbie in photography and i want to learn more things if not everything about it. I love composing photos with fogs wether it is in early morning or in night time, it really doesn't matter, i always trust my eyes and feelings when i take pictures. I was actually inspired by the foggy challenge here in viewbug for the past couple of years and there's a lot of good photos from different photographers around the world.

Editing

I did not do any post-processing with this image aside from putting a watermark on it.

In my camera bag

My bag always have my Canon 5D mark iv, and Canon 1D as my backup, and Canon EOS 100D. The lenses I use are the canon 50mm f1.4, canon ef 24-70mm f2.8, and canon ef 70-200mm f2.8, a flash, batteries, memory cards and a tripod.

Feedback

It really doesn't matter wherever you are or what time it is, you can always find that perfect moment to take your best shot. Don't be afraid to try and do new things, that is out of the basic concept of photography. Trust your eyes and your feelings towards the things you want to photograph. Don't be scared to go around your subject and find that perfect angle for you. Use elements that can add mystery and drama on your photos.
