The place is located on the left bank of the river Verzasca in the valley Valle Verzasca. It is one of the most photogenic places in southern Switzerland. In the crystal clear water reflects the 15th-century church of Lavertezzo, the Santa Maria degli Angeli. This was rebuilt in the 19th century and has since been the only baroque church in the valley.
