Every spring when the night temperature stays in the 40's and its raining, an large migration of ambibians occurs. Thousands of wood frogs, spotted salamanders, blue spotted salamanders, and Jefferson salamanders leave their underground burrows in route to vernal pools for breeding. Pictured here is just one of many spotted salamanders that were out an about in the University of Maine forest, Orono, Maine.
