They gave their tomorrow for our today. Letters carved into stone mark the place where members of the crew of Avro Lancaster ED-352 are buried; shot down as the only plane lost on their return from a raid. These young members of the Royal Australian Air Force are among the thousands who lost their life on both sides of the conflict. We know that they are buried there for they were reinterred from where the German forces who found them risked their own lives to give the crew a proper burial. To the left of the headstone on the left, out of picture, is the grave of my eldest brother. So the words carved here have deep meaning for me, as do similar words for the relatives of those who lost their loved ones in the war. The picture was taken at the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery in Kleve, Germany.
