Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Rome, Italy when I was studying at John Cabot University with my roommate. We lived in the one of Monteverde where the attitude of Rome is very edgy and raw.

Time

I took this just when I woke up out of my bed to get some coffee when I smelt smoke coming from my roommate's door so I opened it to find her smoking with her feet up on the wall. It just made me think, "damn it is one of those days huh?" She replied, "what do you think?" And after that, I knew that on a Friday afternoon, nothing could be better than talking about politics with a nice cig.

Lighting

To be honest, this was spontaneous. I wanted to take a photo of her smoking but the fact that it was in the afternoon made the light more heightened and this gave it the more raw effect.

Equipment

I used a Nikon 3300 camera for more depth!

Inspiration

The only inspiration was her because she matched what we all feel like sometimes "god I need to calm down."

Editing

I only did a tad photoshop but the image is pretty raw and that is what I wanted to portray. I wanted to bring out the rawness of this image.

In my camera bag

I normally just bring my phone or camera wherever I go because you never know when a good shot might arise out of the blue you know?

Feedback

Bring your camera everywhere you go to be honest because the best shots are the most spontaneous ones.
