Absolutely stunning image! I read all your background story on it. Very impressed! One would have no clue that's in an urban setting! Well done!

Location
This photo was taken in a small park near my house in Littleton, Colorado. The park is very close to housing developments and strip malls, and right off of a major highway, but when you enter into this park it's like being in the deep woods.Time
This was taken in the late afternoon when the sky became very intensely blue due to some crazy weather hitting somewhere in Colorado! I love this lighting because of the drama--sun and deep dark sky with storm clouds! The sun was perfectly highlighting the yellow autumn leaves of the cottonwood trees near this small pond.Lighting
This type of lighting is very dramatic and saturated! The colors just pop and I love the shade of blue of the sky! On a day like this, the sky is perfect and an integral part of the composition. I hate lipid, light, no color skies. It bring down the quality of the photo!Equipment
I shoot with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and a 24-70 canon lens. I use a tripod when I am capturing landscapes, for very sharp images. I also use a remote shutter thing.Inspiration
I was at the park in the early afternoon with my husband and dogs, hiking, when the weather started changing and the lighting became dramatic and beautiful! I didn't have my equipment, so as soon as possible, after my dogs had gotten their fill of hiking, we returned home. I informed my husband that I was headed back to capture this incredible lighting!Editing
Yes, I begin with photographing in RAW, then I do some post processing in Lightroom, then put some finishing touches and convert to jpeg in Photoshop. I keep post processing to a minimum though. In my camera bag
For landscape photography, I use a 24-70 canon lens and for wildlife I have a big heavy (too heavy) Canon Prime 300mm lens. I never leave home without my tripod and remote clicker. I also bring a backpack full of stuff like food for lunch, weather gear, lots of water and lots of survival gear and equipment. I also always have a bear bell and bear spray. As far a photo equipment, I try to use the bare minimum, because in Colorado, the terrain is harsh and challenging. You must be prepared for many hazards, so my backpack gets very heavy, very quickly because of water and other equipment to stay alive and safe--just in case!Feedback
Lighting is everything! And I am a firm believer in very good photo equipment, especially lenses. Photograph in RAW and try to use manual focus and manual exposure. I would tell you to take your time composing your capture, but the truth is if you are photographing out West, the lighting and weather changes from second to second. It's almost impossible to wait or compose--you miss the perfect shot!
