Behind The Lens

Location

this photo was taken in Scotland, I stopped the car specifically to take pictures due to the picturesque views the area provided.

Time

I took this photo in the afternoon, i remember travelling all day and seeing the views Scotland provided made the drive worthwhile. I was standing on bridge to take this photo and it provided an excellent view.

Lighting

I wanted to capture the amazing scenery that only seemed possible to the naked eye, I hoped to convey the beauty of the area in just one picture which seemed impossible at the time but with the sun starting to set, and the light centred on the stream it helped create the vast location and its beauty.

Equipment

This photos was taken on a samsung WB100 camera, no other equipment was used.

Inspiration

I was looking for a place to capture the beauty of Scotland and the enchanting beauty it held to those that appreciated it. The pine trees that can be seen in this picture are common in Scotland and are therefore commonly overlooked however, I am still amazed at their huge size and their vast numbers creates a sense of awe for me. Therefore by taking this photo i not only hoped to show Scotland but also the beauty of the things many people overlook.

Editing

Although landscape photography does usually require a lot of processing i took a limited number of photos and was lucky to capture the shot that was perfect to me.

In my camera bag

The first thing i always have in my bag is my Olympus camera that is never far from my side, it takes excellent shots and captures what i want perfectly. However i also usually carry alternate lenses that can provide macro shots or landscape shots. Although i don't usually carry around my tripod, if i am going out specifically to take photos this also joins me!

Feedback

Scotland is a beautiful place that provides picturesque landscapes in snow, sun or rain. I find that by taking pictures of what i find to be beautiful in their own right i other people also see the beauty i am trying to portray and even though not everyone will be able to see it someone somewhere will be able to relate to your pictures. Therefore to take a good picture like this take photos of what you like, lighting is also a key aspect-having good lighting helps to present the picture in the way you want.
