Little yard bird Dark-eyed Junco. These little birds arrived last week. One flew into my house and smacked hard into the window. My dog picked it up and brought it to me. I thought it was a gonner, it gasped and its eyes were closed. I thought about putting it out of its misery but instead, put it into a little box with some fabric on top. A while later it was on its feet and eyes were open. I picked it up and gave it some water, it was still somewhat limp and submissive. An hour later I picked it up and it was ready to fly away and it did!
