Every afternoon at 1pm, an artillery gun at Edinburgh Castle fires a 105 millimeter blank over the city of Edinburgh into the Firth of Forth. Historically, this was used as a time keeping tool for mariners to set their instruments before they ventured out to sea, and is an Edinburgh tradition today. This shot was captured the very instant the round was fired.
