Behind The Lens

Location

Summer sun was taken at an aloe farm during flowering season. This sunbird came to sit in the perfectly lit spot as if waiting to be photographed.

Time

The photo was taken just before noon which provided the nice reflection off the feathers to show off the sunbirds vibrant colors.

Lighting

In this situation the natural sunlight brightened up both the bird as well as the flowers the sunbird feeds off.

Equipment

A canon 600D was used to capture summer sun.

Inspiration

During the flowering season there are a lot of different species of sunbirds displaying a rainbow of colors. One just have to photograph them.

Editing

Only crop and sharpening was applied to the photo.

In my camera bag

Usual equipment I carry is a canon 7D with a Sigma 150-500mm lens, a canon 55-250 and a canon 50 mm lens.

Feedback

For these birds which "rush" from flower to flower you need to bring lots of patience to catch them sitting still long enough to capture a good picture
