The brightest I've ever seen the Aurora - so bright, in fact, I could discern color in them. Normally, humans only see in black and white at night, unless the scene is lit by a large amount of light. These were bright enough that the original scene was captured on ASA 400 film, shot at 1-60 sec. handheld.
