Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was actually taken right in my backyard. My cat despite being indoor loves exploring his own little patch of "jungle" and I knew his eyes would compliment the grass.

Time

This was taken about midday when the sun was at it's highest point in order for me to achieve the level of exposure I wanted in order to make the colors pop.

Lighting

I try to use as much natural lighting as possible especially when it comes to taking anything outside. I use basic editing software afterwards in order to enhance any colors or exposure and saturation settings.

Equipment

This shot was with a Canon Rebel T6 nothing else

Inspiration

If you have a pet you can understand the urge to take as many photos of them as possible. My cat is truly in his element when outside and I wanted a great photo to capture that spirit.

Editing

I use the free editing software that comes with Iphoto. For this shot, the only editing I did was increase the green of the grass and my cats' eyes.

In my camera bag

I normally have the standard base of my Canon Rebel and then I like to bring a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens which I find is better for any detailed close-up shots.

Feedback

The biggest thing with working with animals especially those with a different agenda is to be patient. There's no posing a cat, at least not mine and so I really just had to wait around for him to relax and sit still. I always have my camera set to continuous shooting for this type of work because my cat likes to up and run all the time so I want to get as many shots in as possible in a short amount of time.
