Location
The photo was taken in a small forest near Stuttgart, Germany. It was in walking distance from where I lived. I often walked my dog in that area.Time
The photo is a HDR from 4 pictures which I took at about noon on November 1st, 2007. I recently had heard about this HDR stuff at that time and wanted to try it out myself, so I took my tripod and went into the woods to get some shots of a subject with difficult contrasts.Lighting
There was a nice, "magical" light in the forest which the camera wasn't able to record in one picture due to the high contrasts. By using some shots and combining them into a HDR picture, I was able to get closer to the original feeling.Equipment
I used a Nikon D200 with a Sigma 10-20/4.0-5.6 at 20 mm. As the shutterspeed of the source pictures were between 1/4s and 1/30s (I had the aperture set to f/11 to get everything sharp), I had to use a tripod.Inspiration
The light combined with the light fog created a magical feeling which I tried to captureEditing
I combined the 4 orginal photos with Aurora HDR into one picture and played with the sliders until I got a result that matched the look as I remembered the original situation (the shots were taken about 10 years before I processed them)In my camera bag
As my Nikon equipment grew bigger and heavier over time, I switched to the Micro Four Thirds system some years ago. Nowadays, I use an OM System OM-1 with a lot of lenses. Depeding on the occasion, I select the lenses and the bag. Sometimes (e.g. when I walk my dog) I only take one lens with me. Sometimes, I take my backpack with more of my lenses...Feedback
Light is the key for a good photograph. With the right light, even everyday situations can become interesting and worth a picture...
