The King penguin colony at St. Andrews Bay, South Georgia is one of planet's most spectacular wildlife hotspots due to it's 100,000 breeding pair population. As I'm a overwintering scientist on the sub-Antarctic island, I'm one of the very few people that ever get to see their phenomenal numbers during the winter. Chicks take over a year to fully fledge meaning that there are always birds at the colony during the year. A photographer and wildlife fanatics dream!
