Location
This was taken at a trip to a Falconry centre, they run days for photographers. Get the birds to fly between two known points, this tree stump being one of them.Time
This was late morning.Lighting
It was a bright day, some concerns if sun got behind the birds.Equipment
An entry level camera, a Nikon D3200 with a 55-300 lens. Hand held.Inspiration
I was wanting to get some pictures of the birds lifting off and landing as well as in mid flight.Editing
I selected and sharpened the bird, then cloned out some of the background as some very bright spots between trees behind which was a little distracting. In my camera bag
The D3200 with either the 55-300 or 18-140 with a 35 prime, I travel light. Sometimes the 18-140 and the 55-300. A spare battery and some lens cleaning kit.Feedback
For birds in flight, use continuous auto focus, a shutter speed of around 1/2000 ( so shutter priority is easiest - check ISO as may need to raise to get aa normal exposure ). Then off the image stabilisation as dont need at fast shutter speed and it can fight with the auto focus.
