Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in my front yard. I live in Stevensville Montana, where summertime brings many lightning storms usually resulting in our annual forest fire season.

Time

I dont exactly remember, but I believe it was approximately midnight.

Lighting

Its tricky to catch just right, but moderately long exposures give you similar results. Too short of an exposure will overexpose rhe amount of light in the photo, and too long makes the lightning seem a bit thin. Kind of by guess or by golly in my case. Lucky shot.

Equipment

Nikon D7200, 50mm prime with a uv filter, old school nikon lens with manual focus.

Inspiration

The multitude of lightning we had been getting that year.

Editing

Just cropping and minor tweaks in lightroom.

In my camera bag

Camera, lenses, lens cleaner wipes, memory card reader.

Feedback

Try everything. Make small adjustments and mentally note the differences it makes.
