Location
I took this photo on a trip to Glacier National Park in Montana. It was along my hike up to Grinnell Glacier.Time
We found this mountain sheep on the trail in the late morning.Lighting
The lighting outdoors was highly affected by the smoke from the wildfire. It muted the sun so the time of day according to the sun was always warped.Equipment
I use a Canon 5D Mark III with a 70-200mm lens.Inspiration
We saw so much wildlife during this entire trip! This was the first time we saw a mountain sheep though! There were two just hanging out on the side of the mountain not too far from the trail. Even a ranger passing by said that in all of his years working for the parks service he's never seen such a big sheep! I think seeing the wildlife in their natural habitat is a huge part of experiencing new places and the wilderness. To see something that large just living it's life and that I got to witness that moment is huge.Editing
For this image I muted the greens slightly, corrected lighting, and added some contrast. In my camera bag
I typically carry a 5D Mark III, a 24-70mm lens, a 70-200mm lens, and a wide angle lens.Feedback
Go out and seek new experiences. I would never get to see something like this in my backyard. Going out and being a part a nature and experiencing it as it was intended really is enough inspiration to capture it and capture it well. It's also always, always worth it to take the long drive, to hike the hard hikes, and to get up for the sunrise.
