Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Glacier National Park, Montana. Photography started for me as a teenager. A lot of pictures I have taken and still do while traveling as I did with this one. The shot is from the hotel window (Many Glacier Hotel) onto Swiftcurrent Lake.

Time

It is one of my favorite pictures of Montana as we still had a clear sky and a beautiful sunset. We relaxed after a long hike and a good dinner on the balcony and watched the sunset. The next day we woke up to a sky full of smoke from fires which started on the east side of the mountain range.

Lighting

I underexposed slightly to achieve a bit of a sun burst and more contrast.

Equipment

I used my Canon EOS 1100D with a Tamron lens 16 to 300 mm

Inspiration

The beauty of the scene fascinated me, the reflection of the sun in the lake, how it peeked around the mountain and the dark mountains surrounding the lake. I took a lot of photos this evening.

Editing

It did not need any post processing

In my camera bag

I only had to things on me on the hikes. My before mentioned camera with the Tamron lens and my phone. I always hike with the least possible equipment as I can't carry a lot.

Feedback

Go out in the evening a little before sunset and use the different light and exposures you get while the sun is setting and especially afterwards
