Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at renred photo studio in Riga.

Time

It is really no metter what time of day, when you are shooting in a dark studio

Lighting

I have used 2 big strip lights and one big softbox as key Light in front of the Model

Equipment

I have used my Nikon D810 with Tamron 70 - 200 f2.8 for this shot. Longer lens given less distortion specially for close up portraits

Inspiration

It was an experiment. I was invating 2 models to make beautiful beaty shots.

Editing

The most challenging part is coming in post production. This image is an manipulation of 3-4 images. I was asking the Model to shake her head from one side to another, to get her hairs flying around. Later I was choosing couple of frames to create this hair volume effect in Photoshop.

In my camera bag

My Nikon D810 with Tamron 70 200 f2.8 and Sigma 35mm F 1,4 art are my favorite lenses. Offcourse I would like to expand my lenses range. But if you are limited in the budget this set will be definitely a good decision.

Feedback

You should be really at Pro level in Photoshop to create this flying hair effect, it is not only combine and manipulate the images, there is a lot of art work in post. So you should really be familirized how to draw the hair, what kind of brush and filters to use, how to get hair texture back and much more. It was taking me from 4-6 hrs to get this hair in place, to look as much realistic as I want. So be patient guys, learn and study Photoshop from the best and love what you are doing.
