An intriguing way to spend a very large amount of money. But if you are able to do so, it is probably much nicer to be very innovative and unusual!
Not just a different approach to the hull, but also incorporating sails on large, unstayed, rotating, semi-wing masts.
Seen at Mahon, Menorca. The vessel is registered in Hamilton, Bermuda.

Behind The Lens

Location

Mahon, Menorca. This is one of the Spanish Balearic islands in the Mediterranean, close to the larger and better known island of Majorca. Mahon is the largest town and also the port on Menorca. The Balearic Islands, which also include Ibiza, actually form an autonomous province of Spain.

Time

In the morning. I was competing in a sailing regatta and this was taken when leaving the harbour on the way out to the start in the morning.

Lighting

A cloudy day as can be seen in the photo, but this was good in showing the vessel with a very even light.

Equipment

Canon EOS 70D with 18-55mm lens. Taken hand-held from another boat.

Inspiration

This vessel had arrived overnight and it was quite a surprise to see it the next morning. It was so unusual as a large modern private motor yacht, both in terms of the design of the superstructure and also having sails on unstayed, rotating semi-wing masts, that I had to take some photos as a record of it, as I fortunately had my camera with me on the yacht I was sailing.

Editing

Just very minor cropping and light adjustment.

In my camera bag

This Canon EOS 70D with 18-55mm and 75-300mm lenses. I also use a monopod when it is appropriate, but mostly I take photos hand-held.

Feedback

Only to keep an eye out for anything that is slightly unusual, or in this case very unusual!
