Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my father-in-laws garden. He is a keen gardener and at the time, I was just starting out with photography. As I walked around! This flower caught my eye so decided to take the picture.

Time

I think it was around 12pm when I took this photo. We had all just finished eating dinner and decided to go out side. I had just bought my first camera and as I didn’t really have any experience in taking photos like this, thought that it would be a perfect place to start. The flower just caught my eye and without playing with the camera settings first, just took it.

Lighting

Like I said, I had just started out in photography so didn’t really have any plans for lighting and such. The day was sunny but abit overcast too, which didn’t really have a bad effect on the photo in my opinion.

Equipment

This was shot with a Kodak coolpix A252 bridge camera. No tripod, just regular handheld.

Inspiration

The flower caught my eyes as soon as I saw it and was inspired to take the photo.

Editing

No

In my camera bag

Now that I’ve gain a little bit of experience, I traded the Kodak in for a Nikon 3200. Also with a Nikon 35mm-70mm manual zoom lens and a wide angle lens add-on. Although it’s abit dated, I’ve taken some really good shots with it. It’s also really easy to use.

Feedback

I don’t think I’m experienced enough to give advice, but if I was, I would just say point and shoot. Some of my best shots are brief thoughts. Don’t be afraid to try anything new and out of the ordinary. You’ll be suprised with what you come up with.
