Behind The Lens

Location

I took this picture in October in MT Olivet Cemetery in Nashville Tn. I have always found cemeteries to be calming and peaceful. I like to walk through cemeteries whenever I get the chance to see the beauty. I have been to them in Paris, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, and many locations throughout the southern United States.

Time

It was mid morning. The few days before this had been quite overcast. The day I took this was beautiful. There was a wonderful autumn breeze and the sun was shining through the trees and made. The leaves almost whisper to me.

Lighting

I tried different spots but my being in a shade and taking the picture toward the sun and the unusual shape of the tree made a peaceful picture.

Equipment

I used an older canon 35 mm with standard lens. One of the first digital 35 mm cameras. It has unfortunately passed on to camera heaven.

Inspiration

I had actually been laying underneath a tree a few yards away playing with lighting through the leaves when I stood up I saw this picture and snapped a few different pictures before I got this specific one

Editing

Not really. I might have played a little with the vibrancy, but the tree was pretty much this way. I just got lucky. It’s one of my favorites.

In my camera bag

I haven’t used a digital camera since mine died. So right now my bag is empty. These days I use my iPhone 11 and take lots of pics of the grand baby. But I do get a great pic every now and then.

Feedback

The way I take pictures is I wait for a feeling. If I look at something and it speaks to me I will take 20 or so shots in different light and from different positions. Sometimes the perfect picture happens. That’s how I get most of my shots.
