Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the Northern Virginia area at the release of a Bald eagle that had been rescued and rehabilitated by a regional wildlife center.

Time

Mid afternoon

Lighting

Understandably, I was at the mercy of the handler and his release position for lighting.

Equipment

Photo was taken with a Nikon d3100

Inspiration

Watching the release of this magnificent animal was a privilege and it was an emotional experience to witness his return to the wild.

Editing

Due to the time of the day of the release, the lighting wasn't very exciting so I decided to ramp up the contrast in order to really play off the eagle's intense gaze.

In my camera bag

I now carry a Nikon d7200 with kit lens and Tamron zoom.

Feedback

With this situation, I had a different image in my mind but when dealing with wildlife, you have to realize you are not working in a static bubble.
