Found on the southwest slope of the Acropolis in Athens, this theatre was completed in 161 AD. It was built as a venue for musical concerts. It was destroyed in 267 AD. and left in ruins by the Heruli. It was restored in 1950. Since that time it has hosted concerts by Frank Sinatra, Pavarotti, Yanni, Elton John, Bocelli, and many others. It was the site of the Miss Universe Pageant in 1973.
