Location
A California State Park named Mojave Narrows located in Victorville, CA.. It is a convenient location for photographers because there is tent and RV camping allowed, which makes it easy to be there early and late.Time
The photo was taken just after dawn to capture the softer light and reflection of the goose in the water. The waterfowl are quite active this time of day also and that increases the opportunities to get a better shot.Lighting
I positioned on the side of the waterway to be able to have the sunlight falling on the fall colors in the background. Also had to wait until there was ample light to adequately capture the main subject, the goose.Equipment
Canon EOS 5DS R. A canon zoom lens EF 75-300mm1:4-5.6 III. F 6.3, ISO 500, shutter 1/250, Focal 300/1Inspiration
Trying to capture a bird in flight with the right lighting and colors to make it a special photo.Editing
Just adjustments to lighting and color, both minor. Completed on Photoshop Elements. In my camera bag
All Canon lenses and the EOS 5DS R body. A macro lens, a 24-70mm for landscapes, and a 100-400mm zoom lensFeedback
Pay close attention to the direction that the light is coming from and try to position so it does what you are trying for. Also, get up before the light is just right to get in position. The colors of the vegetation at different times of the year is also important. Find a location with a great deal of waterfowl.
