Location
This was one of those look for a good scene to capture. We frequently drive between Ottawa, Ontario and Orillia, Ontario along Highway 7. There are a number of lake views along this route. Silver Lake, about 1 hour west of Ottawa, is home to a provincial park as well as a number of cottages.Time
We were on a early morning driving trek in the autumn (late September). As we were driving by Silver Lake around 8 am, I noticed a particularly beautiful fog lightly veiling the lake and the rising sun just lighting up the treetops. I pulled over, and stood by the lakeside taking a number of pictures. Waiting for the seagull which I could see coming into the frame from the left.Lighting
The combination of the lying fog on the water, the autumn colors and the morning light enhancing the colors was magical.Equipment

I travel this Highway 7 quite often (3-4 times per year) and I am always looking for picture opps. This part of Ontario has lots of lakes, trees, rolling hills and exposed rock (mostly granite). Silver Lake looked particularly serene that morning.Editing

If you see something interesting, stop. take the time to take lots of shots. The most interesting shots come from the most unexpected things/events. Shoot close, far. Play with aperture, speed.
