I took this photo back in 2015 from Brighton Beach, Melbourne. I went there to photograph the sunset, but instead, I ended up with this stormy photo. When I arrived there, the sun was still on the horizon but all of the sudden the clouds came and overtook the sky. The clouds kept moving very fast, and I realised that along with the clouds, lightning strikes started appearing as well. Then I changed to my zoom lens and decided to wait until I could capture some of them. I like how the dark clouds above and the dark ocean water are framing the city. Even though I’m not a big fan of Black and White landscape photography, this one is an exception. This photo kind of works better that way, because it makes the lightning strikes pop even more together with the lights from the buildings.
This photograph was published in Digital Camera World the UK best-selling photography magazine as well as it was Month’s winner of the WEATHER Competition in the best-selling Australian Photography magazine in this August 2017. Thank you all for that.
