Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken from an airplane, I was flying from Portland, OR to Spokane, WA.

Time

The time of day was early morning. The sun was coming up and lighting the east side of the mountains, I love the way the snow almost glows in the morning sun.

Lighting

The morning light is always a special time of the day to be taking pictures, you can see things in these opening hours to day that you miss the rest of the day.

Equipment

This shot was really an experiment with my iPhone, I was curious to see if I could capture the depth in picture with the camera I had at hand.

Inspiration

The mountains were so incredible, the way they were sticking out of the clouds. I wanted to see if I could capture what I was seeing so I could share it with my family.

Editing

No, there was no post-processing.

In my camera bag

My camera is a Canon EOS Rebel 4ii. I am self-taught, so this is the camera that was suggested to me by a past photography teacher at the school where I work. I like the weight of it in my hands, it balances nicely.

Feedback

If you are going to try and take pictures from an airplane, make sure you are sitting in the window seat and think about what side of the plane you book your seat on. This particular day, I hadn't really thought about which side I was going to sit on, I just always choose a window. You also have to make sure you sit so the wing is out of your view.
