Dhabas in folk etymology stems from Dabba i.e, lunchbox or tiffen. They are inexpensive roadside-street side 'restaurants' which serve as pitstops for travellers-truck drivers etc. This one is situated in a village, where foodservices were being catered by men, and the women cleansing and cooking in the 'kitchen'. Well thats just the pretext. What interested me were these ventilation gaps on the thatched roof implying light or shadow where perhaps there was none. That 'Slant of curious light'
